| Rock grates hold briquettes above a gas grills burner, protecting it from drippings by vaporizing them to improve flavor. Heat plates and heat angles serve the same purposes but are usually used without briquettes. Heat angles are simple metal angles: a flat piece of meal with a single break. They are used only with Charbroil and Weber gas grills. Heat plates are die formed metal plates. Some heat plates resemble angles (see illustration below, center) but have features, such as a more complex shape or vents, not found in angles. For some models, a choice of grates, plates, and angles are available. Use these links to search for rock grates, heat plates, or heat angles. |
